Mt. Pleasant Weed & Seed
Opens Economic Empowerment Center
On Saturday March 28, 2009 the
Mt. Pleasant Weed & Seed opened their Economic Empowerment
Center at 13924 Bartlett Avenue in Cleveland. The center will
house several initiatives that the Weed & Seed project
supports. Among them being, the VITA Income Tax Program,the
Women Without Borders: Collaborative Reentry project, Walls
Inside Out and a resale shop. The hours of operation are Monday
and Wednesday, 1pm-7pm; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10am

8th. Meetings
will be held at the Goodwill Community Campus located at 2295
E. 55th St., Cleveland OH. The meeting will begin promptly at
1:00 p.m.

County Reentry Network Meeting - May

JOINS FORCES WITH SUMMIT COUNTY REENTRY NETWORK
On
May 15, 2009 NORC Executive Director Curtis B. Scruggs met with
members of the Summit County Reentry Network at the Job Center
in Akron, OH. Curtis discussed NORC and its Community Partners,
and the resources and services that they provide to ex-offenders.
Ralph Sinistro, Job Center Manager and Assistant to Summit County
Executive Russell Pry, chaired the meeting. The Summit County
Reentry Network is a collaborative effort of agencies in Summit
County dedicated to assisting ex-offenders transitioning back
into the community. It includes Summit County Dept. of Job and
Family Services, Goodwill Industries of Akron, Project Learn
of Summit County, Oriana House, Open M, Summit County United
Way, Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services, Adult Parole Authority-Akron
Region, and the U.S. District Court Pre-Trial and Probation
Division.
SCRN and
NORC will collaborate on WorkForce Development issues, share
resource and service information; and continue to assist the
ex-offender population in Northeast Ohio to become successful
and productive in their return to our communities. Curtis invited
all members of the of the SCRN to attend the NORC Regular Meetings
and to participate in the NORC Conference on September 29, 2009
on the Main Campus of MetroHealth Medical Center in Scott Auditorium.
Members of the SCRN will also be participating in the STAR Forums
for both the APA and U. S. District Court. The Job Center is
located at 1040 E. Tallmadge Avenue Akron, OH .
